Happy Thanksgiving!!

This weekend is Canadian thanksgiving, so I am off enjoying being stuffed with various meats, pies, and side dishes. What are you thankful for this year?

I am thankful for family, a day off with my Husband, and good change to come :) This year fall is filled with anticipation.... very different from last fall.

Cozyness

Mmmmmm. I love slippers. My feet have been rather chilly at night, and I've been thinking some slippers were necessary, so when I saw these I had to have em!

Yay!

I was featured on a couple of blogs today/yesterday and as a result my hits have gone crazy!! Hey new visitors! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!!! :) I promise not to bite.... maybe.

Big thank you to Allison from Stampin When I Can for linking me (Hey she is from Calgary!) and Baby Deco, they linked a photo of my nursery and I believe they did a little write up about the paper circles from Jude's room The Blog isn't in English so I'm not 100% sure.

Photopost Friday!!

I finally got a chance to sit down and load a bunch of the photos I had taken recently.

Cooking at home and more

Both the food processor and indoor grill we purchased with Wedding gift cards have sure come in handy already! In addition to making a bunch of baby puree, we have been using both regularly to prepare meals. Here is tonight's:

Look good? :) It was delicious! We had grilled chicken with BBQ sauce, tabbouleh, garlic cheesy bread, and home made sweet potato chips with a home made sauce as a garnish. I used the food processor to both grate the cheese and cut the potatoes.

I also managed between fussy baby moments to put away a few baskets of laundry, sort through Jude's clothing and remove that which no longer fits (he has grown so much that he is now into a 12 month size!), unpack my two suitcases (finally!!!), load and unload the dishwasher 3 times (dinners like that sure make a lot of dishes), put together one of my new shelves, fill out 10 thank you notes, generally tidy up the living room/kitchen, and partially organize the entry way closet. It has been tough getting back into the cleaning/home mode... but I think I am doing OK now despite the slow start.

Matt received a large GST cheque from the government last night, and we also received two late wedding wedding cards. You can never beat money in the mail and we were not expecting anything from the government at all - AWESOME! We went out for Chinese to celebrate and I purchased the shelves I posted about yesterday!! One is put together already and the closet is looking great. Once I am done I will post some photos.... unfortunately I forgot to take before photos :( I promise to remember for the next closet makeover.

And just for fun, check out these cuuuute ribbon spool dolls:

A new flickr friend makes these - aren't they amazingly sweet?! She has made many different varieties and hand paints them all! She is so talented, and has a cute family to boot. Please have a look at her etsy shop and flickr photos! You won't regret it!

Shelves shelves shelves!

Yay! It is just noon here and I am already feeling accomplished! The baby is down for a nap and so far today I have vaccumed, compeleted the october family budget, and researched online the shelves I am going to buy for the closets. I had been trying to find some used shelves, but had no luck, so I found some reasonably priced at Zellers and will go pick them up this evening :) I know I said I was on a no buy.... but I am having trouble cleaning up when there are no places for things to do. And just because I am a nerd, here are some photos of the shelves I plan to get....

Going to get two of these, one for the downstairs closet and one for the craft room closet. I have a bunch of photo boxes for storing craft supplies that I plan to put on the one in the craft room, and baskets for things like mittens for the downstairs closet.

And four of these, two for each closet. I will stack them and turn them on their sides to form cubes on the upper shelves of the closet. One will be for the craft room for storage, and one for the Jude's room. For the shelves in jude's room I plan to use them to store extra clothing, shoes, and toys.

So, that's my plan. I hope it works! I will report back soon with photos if it does :)

yawwwwwwwwwn

I'm so tired. I slept in, AND had a nap with mr baby today already. Too much sleep maybe? All I know is I need to find the solution soon.

I'm still struggling with the battle of the messy house, but I had a realization today as I was laying in bed. I have too much stuff!! I see an idea I like, try to accomplish it, aqcuire all items needed to do it.... and then never get it done (or do it waaaay after I had hoped to). So in an effort to de-clutter my home and get some projects completed I am going on a two week buy nothing challenge. I figure if nothing new is coming in - I can figure out what to do with what is already here. I promise to update along the way with my progress (or lack of, lol).

And just so this post isn't completely boring... here are a bunch of cute throw pillows I found on etsy today!

I really love the red striped ones. They look easy to make... and I have some old boring beige curtains..... hmmmmm :)

I should probably be sleeping...

Isn't this the cutest pincushion? Don't you wish you owned it? I do!! I can just picture it next to my sewing machine..

I get frustrated sometimes when it is expensive to ship to Canada :( USPS - Canada likes recieving things too! Anyways, back to crafting. Yes, I am crafting!!!! Check back soon for some photos :)

Bored... procrastinating..

Matt is home early today, and I haven't accomplished much. So far I:

- wiped the kitchen counters down really well
- took a suitcase and a bin upstairs (did not unpack anything yet)
- cleaned out my email inbox

I'm still feeling a bit overwhelmed, with so much yet to do. It sure is nice to have Matt home during the day though. 3:30 and he is home and napping with Jude. I have been peeking at them and they look pretty dang cute together......

In an effort to further prolong doing my chores, I wanted to share a few images I loved today while browsing the most recent uploads by my flickr contacts.

By Jek in the Box. This is her headboard, with some halloween decorations placed on top. What a lovely color she has on her walls.. and that headboard! Wow gorgeousness :)

By Lucy Folch. Isn't this layout just so beautiful? I love how it has so many 3-d elements, and a real branch. Totally breathtaking.

By Creative Breathing. Elizabeth (remember her? she made this lovely heart)is one of my favorite people on flickr, and she made this cute robot from an original pattern. She is so talented with sewing/stitching and is one of the sweetest people I have met in the crafting world so far!

Ok, now I am off to..
